KYA

Kumarapuram Youngesters Association :(UNITY IS STRENGTH)

A vibrant body of young men of the village, the Association renders the socio-religious life in Kumarapuram interesting and colourful. Whether in the day-to-day life of the villagers, during seasonal festivals and temple festivals or occasions - special, not-so-special, jubilant or sad, the youngsters arrive at the scene ready to render a helping hand. They are unassuming and in matters serious and sober, they let themselves be guided by the elders, ever ready to do the chores required of them. The village reading room is run by the Association. Daily newspapers - English and Malayalam are available for all to read. KYA is on the look out for a proper accomodation of the library / reading room. KYA also conducts an annual sports event. Children are encouraged to participate .At times, the event includes quizzes, debates and declamations for children and adults alike. The long term perspective of KYA is to actively get involved in activities which would include visit the sick at home or hospitals, reading to them, distributing Prasadam or tending to their small needs.
The youngsters are second to none in their religious fervor. Every year, a Samashti Upanayanam is conducted at little or no cost to the parents of the wards. Some of them took part in Vedic studies with an intent to qualify themselves in the conduct of Vedic rites and rituals. This is a very positive step towards the future keeping in mind the present day shortage of Vaidikas and the (dis)inclination of the current generation of youngsters.

KYA conducts individual development course in alternate Sundays. This program is more beneficial to children and also for elders. This will be an interactive one at the same time it will be an interesting one.

Last but not the least, given the current scenario, the youngsters are exposed to, it is gratifying to see the youngsters of Kumarapuram, striving to preserve the customs and traditions of our community and at the same time, trying to render meaning and interest to the lives of the young and old (and the not so old !) alike. May their tribe grow and may the Lord bestow his grace on them and inspire them with wisdom and strength
